In Memoriam - Simon Nicks
Simon ‘Nicksy’ Nicks was a beloved voice on the airwaves and a key figure in the radio world, known for his creativity, professionalism, and passion for radio. Simon’s career took off in a remarkable way in 1992 when he joined the Long Wave Giant, Atlantic 252.
Atlantic 252 gave Simon the platform to showcase his unique personality and talents. His energy and presence on the air became a hallmark of the station, contributing to its success and its dedicated following. Simon’s time at Atlantic 252 helped him hone his skills as a presenter and producer, setting the stage for a distinguished career in radio.
Simon later worked for some of the biggest local stations across the UK - Metro, TFM, Heart, and Key 103, among others - but it was Atlantic 252 that remained a pivotal point in his career, and the station that laid the foundation for his later successes, including his famous “Late Night Nicksy” show and his roles as Content Controller at Hallam FM and Programme Director at Star Cambridge.
Simon’s dedication to broadcasting never waned. Even as he climbed the ranks of the radio industry, he continued to cherish his roots, always remembering the audiences that first embraced him during his time at Atlantic 252.
